HOMESCHOOLING VS. STANDARD SCHOOLING

BASED ON MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ...

Hello, everyone!  I was doing my homework when I thought, why don't I make a comparison of homeschooling program versus the standard one?

I was in a regular school since kindergarten to 9th grade. Then, I was homeschooled in 10th grade. After that, I switched back to a regular school in 11th grade. Currently, I am now homeschooling in 12th grade SY: 2017-2018. Mind you, when I was in regular schools, I wasn't in the same school. I always transfer yearly except on my kindergarten to 5th-grade years where I was in the same school. Therefore I can safely say that my experiences are not biased.

WHAT IS HOMESCHOOLING PROGRAM?

To understand better about this comparison, let us first talk about what is homeschooling program. Homeschooling is when you do what you regularly do at school but in the comfort of your own home. There is some homeschooling program where the person which is an expert on a particular subject will go at your house, or that person will teach you via webcam. But in some cases, the parents of the student is the teacher. You can also be homeschooled regardless of what your age is. So in some other situation, you will just be given the modules and you will study on your own.

LET US NOW GET INTO THE COMPARISON!!πŸ™‚

Not to brag but I was a favorite student when I was in kindergarten to grade five. Because of this, I never really gave an effort back then and I really never felt that going to school is somehow a competition to always ace the class. Since I was the favorite, I was always on the top. It changed when I went into different school. On 6th grade, I was in this school where there are only like 8 or 9 students? I really can't remember. So being a student that was used to like have 25 classmates, I was surprised. And having that confidence I have (you know, the favorite student), I still did not give any effort. Still, I always manage to pass the class. I was above average. After that, I keep on changing schools each year. I went to a public school (which is my first time) when I was in 7th grade. Experiencing that, I went back to different private schools in my 8th-9th grade. Skipping to 10th grade, I was also in a standard school in my grade eleven years.
So, these are my pros and cons of attending standard schools based on my own personal experiences.

PROS:
✔ You're going to meet different people with different personalities.
✔ You'll learn how to work with the team.
✔ You can be motivated to be on top since everyone wants that.
✔ You can have a big circle of connections.
✔ You learn how to adjust yourself to your surroundings.
✔ Mostly, you'll learn how to socialize.

CONS:
πŒ— Can be pricey. You have to pay for your books, miscellaneous, transportation, allowance, food, etc.
πŒ— For me, sometimes it can be a waste of time. What you can do in standard schooling can be done at the comfort of your home but you have to be there in 8-12 hours depending on school regulations.
πŒ— You have to wake up early and sleep late causing you to have sleep deprivation.
πŒ— You have to fake it 'til you make it because there is always this someone who will make your school year difficult.
πŒ— You will be exposed into bad influencers.
πŒ— You will learn things in a difficult way.
πŒ— For me, the standard schooling is training the students to be an employee someday. What is so wrong about that? It can be a con since not all people want to be a person who works for wages at a non-executive level.

if you guys have any more questions, please leave a comment below so i can elaborate what i mean that you don't understand πŸ˜ƒ

H O M E S C H O O L I N G

I was homeschooled when I was in 10th grade because we migrate to a different country. Then just like I've said, I switched back to a regular school because I kind of missed that. But realizing the PROS of being homeschooled, I went back and currently a grade twelve science, technology, engineering and mathematics student through homeschooling program. There are different approaches to a different level of a student when it comes to homeschooling. Kids ages 2-6 can be taught by their own parents. Kids 7 or up can be taught by someone who is professional on a particular subject by going to their house or via webcam. Sometimes, students who are already old enough can be left alone.
So, how can homeschooling be done? The school will give you your own modules and lessons (via email or in their office) and you will answer all the homework and pass it through email. Sometimes, there are deadlines for that. You also take your exams online. Basically, everything is online. Having that said, it is very important for a student to have their own laptop.
Some homeschooling program has this weekly meetup where you can meet your "classmates". isn't that cool?
Home-school is credited just like the way a standard school is. The only difference between regular schooling and homeschooling is that you do it in the comfort of your own home.
Here are my pros and cons:

PROS:
✔ You can manage your own time. You don't have to wake up at 4 in the morning just to get ready for school.
✔ With that being said, you can wake-up at 9 in the morning and you don't have to take a shower. You just have to finish the deadline of your homework.
✔ You can even go study in your pajamas and don't have to be conscious about it since there is no one else but you and the laptop.
✔ Since you manage your own time, you can create your own schedule. There are no rules as long as you pass the homework correctly and before the deadline.
✔ You get to choose your own subject.
✔ You literally create your own grades. You don't have to beg for mercy to the people who write your grades like in regular schools. As long as you know you deserve that mark, then go.
✔ Since everything is in the comfort of your own home, it teaches you how to be independent and how to be a person with integrity.
✔ I believe that homeschooling program is perfect for those who want to have their own business and want to start as young as they are. I am not saying that those who attend a regular school is not capable of doing that. What I'm saying is, you have all the time that you need. You can finish your school year in just a month and don't have to worry about school so you can focus on your business or whatsoever.
✔ You don't have to be exposed to pollution.
✔ You don't have to suffer in transportation if you don't have a car.
✔ You can eat anytime you want. I mean, you have all the time so... lol πŸ˜‚✔ You don't have to be surrounded with toxic people. Meaning, you can be yourself (like you don't have to dress to impress, etc) and don't have to be in a fake it 'til you make it mode.
✔ You save more money, time and energy.
✔ If you are a parent, you get to have a bonding time with your kids since you're the one who teaches them.
✔ Basically, homeschooling is best for someone who has a lot of things to do. It can be work, passion or whatever. Plus, you don't need to wake up or sleep late if you are always on time passing your requirements.

actually, there are still a lot of pros depending on your situation and the way you see it.
CONS:πŒ— Some homeschooling requires authenticated documents. This can be a con since there are certain countries who don't do authentication on school documents.
πŒ— If you like to socialize, homeschooling may seem boring for you. But on the good side, you can always socialize and meet new people if you are homeschooling and working since time is not a problem.
πŒ— If you procrastinate, it can be very stressful. So don't.
πŒ— There are some subjects that are difficult to learn alone. But hey, there's your laptop and a good internet connection. What's the problem?

So far, these are the only cons that I see. But are they really a con? πŸ€”

ANYWAY, WHO DO YOU THINK WON? HOMESCHOOLING OR A REGULAR SCHOOL?
